About the Project:
AgeGuide’s mission as an Area Agency on Aging is to be a vital resource and advocate for people as they age by providing thoughtful guidance, supportive services, and meaningful connections. In the process of this beautiful mission statement, they wanted to educate the community about how to become Dementia Friendly. This created the idea for AgeGuide Learning Center. The ALC is an educational resource for everyone in the community. Whether you are a professional in the Aging Services Network, a business, a service provider, or an older adult or caregiver. Overall, the courses are designed to better equip you with anything you may need. The overall idea was to help pave the way for residents, businesses, and organizations to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and those who care for them. The courses provide best practices to help you build a more inclusive and thriving community.

Information: The project I was involved with was instructional designing the “Dementia Friendly” courses and the Medicare Training. Also, designing the landing page, the branding and administrate the ALC after it’s launch.
-
Course
The previous course was too monotone, long winded, showed an older brand kit and didn’t emphasize the main points through the tone of the course.
-
Branding
The brand needed a more modern inclusive design to stand out and excite learners to learn about dementia.
-
Landing Page
Learners needed a landing page understand the cousrse objective and a quick survey to sign up.
-
Streamlining
Automating a system that allowed easier management from the business and easier access from the learners.
Gap 1: The Course
The information was solid, well worded, and hit the parts that needed more emphasis. The questions helped you remember what the main lesson of the course was and what terms you need to start using moving forward. It needed a change of tone to create an e-learning environment that people felt excited to be a part of. So, being a voice over actor I took the role of being the teacher in this course and editing the videos. I kept the pace up and read it with enthusiasm which made the course feel more engaging.
Gap 2: Branding
I decided to give the learning center a more positive look around it’s brand kit. Active seniors of all backgrounds using technology instead of them being disabled and unable. I made sure to center the individual business sector courses around who the course was for so they felt included in the Dementia Friendly community. I also had to create all of the Medicare Tutorials along with that design and in 7 different languages.
Gap 3: Landing Page
I designed the landing page to be concise and showcase all of the different courses the ALC had to offer. I created a survey on typeform to get the organization’s information, their purpose for the course, a way to inform them about the course itself and a way to have all that information sent to my email address to help onboard them on to Talent LMS.
After releasing the ALC we were recognized for a national award for creating a platform where individuals and organizations can learn and receive certifications in being Dementia Friendly. It was very well received and the learners felt engaged, heard, and walked away with a better knowledge of the disease. To AgeGuide this award achieved their mission statement to better the community.
During the testing phase with select clients, AgeGuide recognized the need for a more streamlined and automated course management system. They envisioned a platform where users could access courses instantly without the need for logging in, integrate their existing YouTube videos seamlessly, and receive automated certificates upon completion. This enhancement aimed to simplify the onboarding process for businesses, provide precise demographic insights, and ensure a smooth, automated experience for clients.
To achieve this, I leveraged an existing Typeform solution and seamlessly integrated it with AgeGuide's Google Suite. First, I embedded their instructional YouTube videos directly into each course module, enhancing visibility and directing traffic to their YouTube channel while consolidating analytics within YouTube's system.
Additionally, I implemented a survey at the beginning of each course module to gather valuable demographic data from users. By connecting Typeform to Google Sheets, user responses were automatically logged into a spreadsheet for easy access and analysis. Furthermore, I developed a plugin to automate certificate generation, ensuring that users received their certification promptly upon completing the course.
To enhance the learning experience, I incorporated interactive questions with a feedback loop. Users who answered questions incorrectly were guided through a reiteration process until they achieved the correct answer, facilitating effective learning progression.
