About the Project:
Project Overview:
Sparrow Coffee is committed to the artistry of coffee roasting, viewing it as a craft perfected over years of dedication. Distinguished from high-volume roasters like Starbucks, Sparrow emphasizes precision and quality in every batch. Originating from the passion and expertise of its founder, Chris Chacko, Sparrow aims to deliver exceptional coffee experiences through meticulously sourced beans and carefully crafted brewing methods.
As Sparrow Coffee expands its operations and explores franchising opportunities, the need arises to ensure consistency and excellence across all locations. To achieve this, Sparrow identified the necessity of a comprehensive onboarding program for new baristas. This program aims to equip employees with the knowledge and skills required to create the "perfect cup of coffee" according to Sparrow's standards.

Instructional Designing:
When I sat down with the manager and asked him “What is the demographic that is normally employed here?” he laughed and said “Extremely Caffeinated 20-year-olds…good luck getting their attention.”… I took that as a challenge. During my initial discussions with the staff members, I discovered that they were predominantly college students with busy schedules, proficient in technology, and inclined towards hands-on learning experiences. Recognizing their learning preferences, I tailored the instructional design of the course to align with their needs.
To accommodate their busy lifestyles and preference for mobile learning, I structured the course into digestible modules, ensuring that each point of learning was presented in bite-sized portions. Moreover, I optimized the content for mobile devices, allowing them to access the course conveniently during breaks between shifts or classes.
Understanding the importance of engaging multimedia content for technologically advanced learners, I incorporated various interactive elements and visuals to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, I supplemented the written text with audio recordings, creating an immersive learning environment akin to an audiobook.
In instances where detailed information was crucial, I leveraged the capabilities of the software to highlight key concepts effectively. By adopting a hands-on approach, I aimed to cater to the kinesthetic learning preferences of the students, encouraging active participation and retention of knowledge.
Ultimately, my goal in designing this course was to provide an accessible, engaging, and interactive learning experience tailored to the unique needs and preferences of the target audience.
Video Editing
From the beginning, I worked off of a storyboard to ensure that within every part of the process I was getting the proper angle for the learner to see. I blended a combination of GoPro shots and what I had originally planned with my camera. This gave the learner a point-of-view shot and different cinematic shots so they get a close-up look at how every step works as a whole.
